If like me you love a good Visio diagram, then something which was released last week will excite you. The latest updates in the Azure portal has seen the release of some new Microsoft Azure Icons. (YAY!!)

The icons are available from the Microsoft Azure Architecture Center, and you can download them here so that you can create loads of lovely Azure Architecture drawings.

Microsoft also publish a list of Doโ€™s and Donโ€™ts on how to use these icons:

Doโ€™s

  • Use the icon to illustrate how products can work together
  • In diagrams, we recommend to include the product name somewhere close to the icon
  • Use the icons as they would appear within Azure

Donโ€™ts

  • Donโ€™t crop, flip or rotate icons
  • Donโ€™t distort or change icon shape in any way
  • Donโ€™t use Microsoft product icons to represent your product or service

Alongside these icons, there are several other resources available in the Azure Architecture Centre. Which will give some great ideas for reference architectures for a wide variety of solutions, or if you prefer to create your own diagrams click here to download the Azure Icons
